March 13, 2016, Culver City- It was a decadent evening of vintage nostalgia at The Culver Hotel when seductive Burlesque Dancers took over the ballroom reflecting

the hotel’s extraordinary classic “Old Hollywood” legend. After all, the hotel was once owned by Charlie Chaplin, who lost the property in a poker game to John Wayne. Ever since, the famous hotels’ folklore has been marinated in a furtive mystique. One of the hotels’ managers even delighted in nostalgia as he told me about the raunchy, drunken parties that hundreds of munchkins had during their stay while filming the 1938 movie The Wizard of Oz.
And so, it was serendipitous that author and filmmaker, Leslie Zemeckis, wife of Pioneer Visual Storyteller Robert Zemeckis, who is best known for his 1985 movie Back to the Future, made a rare appearance at the allegorical hotel to promote her book Goddess of Love Incarnate, about Burlesque dancer Lili St. Cyr.

And what better place to pay homage to the art of seductive Burlesque entertainment that the Culver Hotel! Guests enjoyed dancing to the throwback tunes of Sylvia & The Rhythm Boys while proceeds from Zemeckis’ book sales, along with silent auctions, went to a good cause by benefiting the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation whose aim is to eradicate breast cancer.

Notable guests on hand to help Leslie celebrate were producer and actor Kelsey Grammer (Cheers, Frazier), actor Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future Trilogy), Russian Supermodel Eugenia Kuzmina and live performances by Miss Hollywood Burlesque April Showers and mistress of the classic bump-n-grind Maxi Millions.
