LOS ANGELES, CA – The Tailwaggers Foundation will present its 2nd Annual Waggy Awards on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood, CA. This exciting event calls all pet owners and dog lovers together for an entertaining celebrity filled evening of cocktails, awards, an after-party and a silent auction, all to raise awareness and funds for The Tailwaggers Foundation. The event will be hosted by the lovely and vivacious Cassandra Peterson (Elvira, Mistress of the Dark) and will honor United States Congressman Adam B. Schiff (California’s 28th Congressional District) and Oscar™-nominated actress and well-known animal activist Linda Blair.

The Tailwagger’s Foundation is sphere headed by its CEO, Todd Warner, a true humanitarian and successful business entrepreneur. His forward-thinking and heart-felt dedication to his four legged friends is admirable and necessary for the protection and care of animals without voices.
In addition to saving lives through The Tailwaggers Foundation, Todd Warner also founded Tailwaggers Pet Store in Hollywood in 2003 and has since expanded to a second store location in West Hollywood where he and his knowledgeable staff provide the community with healthy, natural pet care products that are consistent with a holistic approach to pet health. Todd’s animal activism is progressive in his techniques to saving animals lives by offering pet adoptions in the West Hollywood store and even a fun, comedy show called 2 Girls 1 Pup that people can bring their dog to at the Hollywood location. The Waggy Awards is just another method that Todd created to bring continued awareness concerning the welfare of animals.
“I created The Tailwaggers Foundation to serve as a financial resource for 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue groups, my hero’s, who are struggling to cover the cost of medical care for sick and injured animals. Recognizing that healthy dogs and cats stand the best chance for finding a loving home, donations received will directly facilitate the adoption process and will improve animal welfare in general. Our Waggy Awards, which we like to call our furry little version of the Oscars, is an evening were we will be honoring individuals who we feel have demonstrated remarkable spirit and conviction in the crusade to improve animal health and welfare both in our local community and around the world”, said Todd Warner. The event brings together an influential community of pet owners and animal lovers alike to celebrate prominent leaders in those communities, honoring them with recognition for their efforts in educating people on the need for animal welfare and healthcare.
Congressman Adam Schiff will receive the 2015 Waggy Award for his tireless efforts in putting forth legislation for the ethical treatment of marine mammals by establishing regulations on the captivity of orcas and cetaceans. Congressman Schiff was a leader in Congress, urging the United States Department of Agriculture to update their regulations for the treatment of these animals through an amendment to FY15 Agriculture Appropriations bill and passionate statements on the House floor. “Our amendment reminds USDA that inaction is unacceptable – the American people want to see these regulations reviewed and updated to reflect the growing scientific and public concern about the effect of captivity on these animals”, said Congressman Adam Schiff.
Linda Blair will receive an award for her dedication and devotion to animals through The Linda Blair World Heart Foundation, a group of inspired, motivated humanitarians who work tirelessly to fight animal cruelty by educating the public, animal rescue and finding loving families to give the helpless a second chance at a happy life. She has dedicated herself to resolving problems related to animal welfare and the work required to stop animal abuse and neglect.

About The Tailwaggers Foundation
The Tailwaggers Foundation (TWF) is a registered 501c(3) non-profit organization that provides funding to qualified non-profit animal rescue organizations for the treatment of sick and injured animals. With a significant segment of the U.S. population evolving in their definitions of “extended family,” the need for support and maintaining expenses for the adoptions of their new family members is increasing. The Tailwaggers Foundation is dedicated to the welfare of rescue animals by providing them a second chance at life by paying for their medical expenses. Financial support from TWF can mean the difference between a happy forever home and euthanasia. In the past year The Tailwaggers Foundation has awarded over $15,000 in grants to animals in need.
