“COME AND MEET THOSE DANCING FEET, ON THE AVENUE I’M TAKING YOU TO 42ND STREET”
The national touring company of Broadway’s beloved song and dance extravaganza 42nd STREET opened on Tuesday, May 31st to thunderous applause and standing ovations at the beautiful Hollywood Pantages Theatre. Stars from the worlds of theater, music, film and television celebrating on the red carpet included Mindy Sterling, (“Minions”/ “Austin Powers”),Obba Babatunde (“The Bold and the Beautiful”), Kym Johnson (“Dancing With The Stars”), Robert Herjavec (“Shark Tank” and “Dancing With The Stars”), and Mario Lopez (“EXTRA!”).

This toe tapping, finger snapping musical is the story of Peggy Sawyer, a starry eyed ingénue growing up in Allentown, PA in the 1930’s who moves to NYC in the hopes of auditioning for the new Broadway musical “Pretty Lady.” With her talent, she sings and dances her way into the chorus and into the heart of leading man Billy Lawlor. When klutzy star Dorothy Brock breaks her leg during rehearsals right before opening night and blames Peggy, dastardly director Julian Marsh fires her and announces that without the star, the show will have to close. Who could take her place you ask? Gee whiz boys and girls, it’s Peggy, who packed her bags and was taking the next train back to Allentown. Julian races to the station just in time to prevent Peggy from making the biggest mistake of her life. The question is…. can she learn all the routines in one day? Can she do it? Of course she can and becomes a Broadway star!

With book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, original music by Harry Warren and lyrics by Al Dubin, 42nd STREET is based on a novel by Bradford Ropes and Busby Berkeley’s 1933 film.
Some of the show stopping tunes include “We’re in The Money,” “Shuffle Off To Buffalo,” “Lullaby of Broadway,” “I Only Have Eyes For You,” and the most famous of all, “42nd Street.”
This scintillating new production is directed by co-author Mark Bramble and choreographed by Randy Skinner, the team who staged the 2001 Tony Award® winning Best Revival in a musical.
Mark Bramble and Randy Skinner both received Tony Award® nominations.

The national tour stars Kaitlin Lawrence as Broadway leading lady Dorothy Brock, Mathew J. Taylor as director Julian Marsh, Caitlin Ehlinger as Peggy Sawyer, Blake Stadnik as Billy Lawlor and Britt Steele as Maggie Jones. The entire cast of singers and dancers were truly exceptional and I absolutely loved it!! But hurry, this tour will only be at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre until June 19th.
