
October 10th 2015, Hollywood- NewFilmmakers Los Angeles and KTLA presented the 2015 ON LOCATION: The Los Angeles Video Project on the historic Hollywood Center Studios lot on Saturday October 10th, 2015, featuring the theme “What is your LA?”, with opening remarks from LA City Council-member David Ryu and hosted by comedian Guy Branum.

The one-night festival showcased 21 filmmaker finalists who were challenged to create a film under 5 minutes that highlighted the city of Los Angeles. Guests of the event enjoyed munching on Los Angeles’ famous PINK’s Hot Dogs and drinking from a fully hosted bar, sponsored in part by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Don Q Rum, and Monster Energy Drink.




Celebrities in attendance included Dawn Richard (Recording Artist & Performer), Alex Russell (UNBROKEN, CARRIE, CHRONICLE), Patrick Fabian (THE LAST EXORCISM), Jason Kramer (KCRW), Valenzia Algarin (Adult Swim’s “Black Jesus”) Alton Butler (CEO of Line 204), Clinton H. Wallace (Independent film producer) and Christy Oldham (film producer/director). Judges for the 2015 “On Location” program included Catherine Rotunno (Sony Pictures Entertainment), Abdullah Hall (Paramount Pictures), John Im (Warner Bros.), and NewFilmmakers very own Larry Laboe (Executive Director), Susie Kim (Artistic Director), and Rosalind Helfand (CFO).

The talented group of up and coming filmmakers were competing for a variety of prizes including the Grand Prize, a generous production package from Alternative Rentals and promotion by KTLA. Additional prizes included film permits from Film LA, Movie Magic Budgeting 7 and Movie Magic Scheduling, Mole Richardson lighting packages, Hollywood Casting and Film green screen sound stage rentals, and $2500 in cash prizes.
